Time for an April Fools Ride + 1. Planning a ride from Gillsville with options of appx. 20 miles, 30 miles, or longer. This ride with one or two exceptions is mostly along ridge lines.Contact me via email or at 770-532-9160. Planned starting time is about 10 AM and parking will be behind Jeannie’s Cafe since Gillsville is getting a rework by DOT.

It is almost time again for the LAP ride with your choices of 20, 35, 50, 68 or 100 miles on Saturday, May 7th starting at 8 AM. This is a well organized ride and just seeing the folks personing (can’t say manning anymore) the rest stops is worth the ride. Price before April 28this $30 and includes an after ride meal with what may be the world’s best Chicken Salad. Saturday Rides Starting Again Soon

Well, the snow and cold weather season is almost behind us but there is still March – remember the blizzard of 1993 or there about. I will be planning rides again and will post them here. If you have suggestions of where you would like to go, let me know. The rides are called Leisure Rides for a reason. I like to look at the flowers, birds, etc. and am not in a hurry. Rides can vary in length based on experience and desire. Will usually finish somewhere close to a place to eat or visit it mid-ride. Average speed is 12 to 13 mph. If you go faster than that, please wait for me at the hill tops and stop signs. Will also do some Sunday afternoon rides when it is good weather.

Hope everyone will have a Merry Christmas! We are looking at a possible white Christmas here in NE Georgia – guess I won’t get in miles tomorrow unless I can borrow the reindeer after they complete their work. 2918 miles so far this year and might get in another 82 before year end if the 30th and 31st are decent.

Saturday, September 4th, 5th in the PM, and Labor Day Rides

September 4th – The plan is to ride from Gillsville and do up to or just a bit over 50 miles. Meet in front of Jeannie’s Cafe for the ride to start at 9 AM. Meet a bit earlier for coffee, etc. Ride can be shortened to about 25 to 30 miles for those who do not want the full ride.
September 5th – call me at 770-532-9160 for more details if interested.
September 6th – tenative but proably leaving from Lula Park where the ball field is and doing 30 to 40 miles. 9 AM to 10 AM departure. Call me for more details.

Am considering a Gillsville to Homer Ride leaving about 9 AM from the parking lot in front of Jeannie’s Cafe. The route is not “tooooo” hilly so should be fun. Have not prepared the route yet and there are a couple of alternatives. Come on for a ride with TEAM POKE A LONG – no drops and we wait at the top of hills or vice versus – you wait for me at the top of hills. Weather is looking great with temps in the 70′s and 80′s during the ride.

Will leave from the parking lot by the railroad about 8:30 AM and do somewhere between 30 and 50 miles depending upon riders. There are several cut offs that can shorten the route if necessary.

BRAG 2010 IS HERE AGAIN

BRAG 2010 will start June 5 and end June 12. This year’s ride is a great circle route from Fayetteville to Griffin to Thomaston to Columbus to LaGrange to Newnan and back to Fayetteville. My next local ride will be on June 19th from Gillsville at 9 AM – weather permitting – and will be about 30 miles or less depending upon who rides.
